Writers Celebration

The Writers Celebration is a wonderful event where the kindergarten kids get the opportunity to show off all of their published writing and allow their families to see what creative writers they have become over the past year. This is Franny’s teacher’s favorite event and I can see why. We were able to sit with Franny and read the stories and poems she chose to publish and share. They were all bound in her own Collection of Writing. We were also able to see a book made with photos taken over the past year that include Franny; over the past year she has been writing captions for each of the pictures, and it was a really nice collection of Franny’s year from her own point of view. There also was a memory folder that had lists of things that Franny enjoyed over the past year, some of her favorite art, a class picture with all the kids signatures, and a first day photo and ‘last’ day photo. Franny was a little anxious about sharing her work in such a formal setting, but in the end, she did enjoy it. It was amazing to see the progression and improvements in her writing over the course of the year. She has worked so hard and accomplished so much, and we couldn’t be more proud of her!
