Cole impatiently waiting

Open, please! is what we hear anytime we are playing in the front yard or driveway. Cole loves to play in our cars. But, with fewer settings to wreak havoc on, we encourage Cole to focus on Daddy’s car. Franny will play with him, as well, but she doesn’t have the same intense interest and determination to get into the car that Cole has; he will get very upset if he is denied entry. I have little doubt that Cole dreams about driving cars, trucks, and excavators. When he plays in the car, he is definitely not just pressing buttons—he can insert the key in the ignition, operate the radio, and open and close the garage door—all with a very focused deliberation. And, of course, the steering wheel gets a workout. The only way it could be better would be if there was a big John Deere symbol on the side of the car. Although, with Cole’s imagination, it probably doesn’t make much of a difference, anyway.
