Table for 11

Rick and I have enjoyed going to Bend and Sunriver together for more than ten years, now.  We enjoy it enough that we’ve spent several holidays and anniversaries, there.  Since Franny was born, we have a much different experience when we go, but it is still a lot of fun, just in a different way.  There are some things we don’t do—my favorite Broken Top Trail will have to wait until they are older—but there are still a number of things that we have continued to do since we started bringing the kids.  One place we still always go is the Deschutes Public House.  This year, we shared our vacation with good friends—something we do every other year.  It is always a great time, and now that we both have three children, it is definitely a full house.  When we went to dinner tonight, we requested a table for eleven.  Amazingly, we only had to wait 30 minutes.  But, the weather was beautiful and a walk around downtown Bend was a wonderful way to pass our time.  I couldn’t help but thinking, however, how different things are, now.  Although I must admit that I was briefly nostalgic of memories of simpler times, that thought was quickly replaced by thoughts of knowing that I wouldn’t have it any other way.  And, that is a wonderful feeling.
