Time for a change

Last week, Delaney scared us all by climbing out of her crib.  While she was not seriously hurt, she was not completely unscathed.  She bit the inside of her cheek or lip and there was a lot of blood on her and the floor.  Needless to say, we pulled out the toddler bed to make sure she didn’t hurt herself any worse.  When Franny and Cole transitioned to a toddler bed, it was out of the need of freeing up the crib for a new baby.  But, with Delaney, there wasn’t that need, so we decided to convert the crib to a day bed, as the crib is a nicer piece of furniture than the bed.  The new day bed, however, doesn’t have the guard rails that the toddler bed has, and on her first night she rolled out of bed several times before we used her chair as a make-shift solution.  So far, this has kept Delaney in her bed, but if it doesn’t provide a long-term solution we may have to use the toddler bed, after all.  Regardless, Delaney is definitely enjoying her ‘new’ bed, which is fun to see.  I am completely amazed, however, how she can fall out of bed and not wake up—that is what I call a heavy sleeper!
