Last week's heat wave caught us all off guard with the hottest temperatures of the summer.  The kids handled the heat amazingly well, doing all the things they usually do, and then some!  They went to the park and fountain, played in the mini-pool, rode the train at the Zoo, and cruised around on their scooters and bikes.  They even had a super fun evening playdate with good friends in West Linn. They didn't miss a beat.  For them, it an incredible extension to summer, which--although informally--ended much too soon with the onset of school last week.  Now, the weather is gradually shifting, and it will be interesting to see if this is the last of our warm weather before the fall cool down begins or if we're able to enjoy one last hurrah of summer.  I know the kids would welcome more summer, but we'll see what happens.
