It was a beautiful Fall day in Portland, today--cold, but sunny and blue skies.  We walked down to our Starbucks for a morning treat of bagels and hot chocolate and then hiked home on one of the neighborhood trails.  It was a great way to spend an easy morning, following a very busy week.  The kids love hiking and it is so nice to have the trail system in our neighborhood.  Although some do follow closely to some of the homes, there are several, including the one we did today, that are completely forested, with nothing to be seen but beautiful trees, creeks, and wildlife.  I love this time of year, with all the vibrant Fall colors at their peak, and this morning was the perfect showcase.  I wish every morning could start like this one!
