I think that this is a very special place for kids, and I am so glad Franny and Cole’s playgroup have started to come here more often. Today was the first time we’ve been able to join them, so I was very excited—maybe more so than either of the kids. Today’s Mini Masters class was based on the art of Diana Ong, a contemporary abstract artist. The instructor explained abstract art to the kids, and showed them different examples of her work, focusing mainly on one that used square shapes within a single color palette.
The kids then were able to choose their own color family and create their own. Their medium was acrylic paint and colored tissue squares. I love the way Franny and Cole’s projects turned out, and I can’t wait to frame them and hang them in their playroom!
