Yesterday evening we took Franny, Cole, and Delaney to see Santa Claus.  This was something Franny really wanted to do, she dressed for the occasion, and she had it all planned out what she was going to tell him:  Ariel dress-up and princess stuff.  I didn’t really expect Cole to care much, since he’s really not at the stage where he wants more than what he already has.  But, with Santa Claus such a prominent figure during Christmas time, as well as in all his Christmas books, I think he still was intrigued.  Once we arrived, Franny opted out of meeting Santa—she had Rick convey her requests, instead.  Cole, however, was quite comfortable and talked with him for a few minutes (with a little prompting from his daddy).  I felt a little badly for Franny, because I think she did want to tell Santa what she wanted for Christmas, but just couldn’t bring herself to do it.  For next year, I’m already considering other plans that will hopefully enable Franny to be more confident and enjoy meeting and talking to Santa.  But for this year, two out of three is just fine!
